Baddesley Park FC History

Based in North Baddesley, Baddesley Park Football Club was established in 1998. The first team was formed by Colin Jowett, a north Baddesley resident, whose son Joe wanted to play football for a local team. For a couple of seasons Colin’s lads played unaffiliated 11-a-side football and the club operated as a one team outfit. In the summer of 2000, Craig Brooks and John Robinson, who had been training a number of younger boys from the village, approached Colin to find out if they could form a second Baddesley Park team. By this time, more and more boys were turning up at North Baddesley Recreation Ground on a Saturday morning to join in training sessions, run by enthusiastic volunteers, usually dads!

By the end of 2000 Colin was chairman and secretary of rapidly expanding venture, as well as a team manager, and it was agreed that a committee should be formed to help ease the burden and move the club forward. The first committee consisting of Adrian Tull (Chairman), Sharon Whitehouse (Secretary) and Trevor Luckman (Treasurer) were appointed in the spring of 2001, when the club officially affiliated to the Hampshire F.A.

In 2001/2002 Baddesley Park started its first affiliated season with Colin’s team playing in the Tyro league at u12s. Craig Brooks managed the u10s and Craig Whitehouse ran the u8s team, both playing in the Eastleigh and District Mini Soccer League.

Support from enthusiastic parents and volunteers has enabled the club to expand rapidly. We have around 200 registered players representing the club across age groups ranging from u8 to u16. We have teams playing every Sunday, in the local mini soccer league and in the Tyro League. In addition, the club offers an opportunity for children aged 4 upwards to learn basic football skills.

It aims to raise standards in the grassroots game, supporting the development of clubs and leagues, recognising and rewarding commitment, quality and achievement.
